Must Haves
Feet get a retreat from heels with the comeback of ballerina flats and moccasins. Flats are the perfect mates for preppy or vintage inspired clothing. For men and women, comfy moccasins are a polished replacement for flip-flops. Boat shoes extend past portside.

Fashion Fix
Match undergarments to skintone when wearing white or lighter color clothing. Presto - no underwear lines.

Office Etiquette
If you're currently in the work force, returning to work, changing careers or job hunting be sure to know a company's dress code BEFORE you go on an interview. Remember, you only get ONE chance to make a first impression. Never wear super casual clothing such as jeans, skimpy tops, graphic t-shirts or sandals. Dressing professionally helps you project a confident image that could land you that job!

What NOT to Wear
Socks and shoes with any cropped pants can give off a nerdy vibe. Flats or sandals create a cleaner line (and lengthen the figure).

Trend Forecast
Femininity is in the air. Breezy chiffon dresses are printed with flowers - from petite petals to bold blossoms. Classic white shirts are refreshing. Ponchos have staying power and are the perfect companion after shedding winter's heavy layers. Bohemian looks beckon with mirrored fabrics, peasant blouses, and flirty dresses. Embellishment which used to be reserved for after five now goes 24/7.

Turquoise, lime, aqua, and coral are the season's strongest colors. What better way to
add brightness to khaki and neutrals than with these gifts from the earth and sea? Preppy
is invigorating in all shades of pink and green. That preppy look transcends to men's fashions
too with madras plaid sport coats over layered polo shirts, khaki pants and striped web belts.

Khaki, that infamous cotton twill gets a makeover in updated separates. "Khaki is more than just a color - it's an entire look." (Women's Wear Daily, 11/16/04)

Accessories have gone back to nature with organic looking materials such as raffia, beads and rough cut stones. Collections of precious stones swing from pendants. Pearls get mixed with multi-strands and a mélange of metallic chains. Earrings go from the ever popular chandelier to clusters. Charms add instant chic dangling from bracelets, necklaces, cell phones and handbags.

Shoes and handbags are adorned with shells and wooden beads. Fruit themes are ripe for the picking in handbags, small leather goods and jewelry. For more shoe trends, check out Soleas.com and click on "news."

Fashion Question: How Can I Look Slimmer?

There are many tricks of the trade to make the body appear slimmer.  Dressing in a monochromatic color scheme creates a column of color that gives the illusion of a taller and slimmer silhouette. Pants legs should be in proportion to the width of your hips (the narrower the pants' leg, the wider the hips appear creating an ice cream cone effect). Shirt and jacket lengths should end at the hipbone and never at the widest part of hips (as it draws the eye outward). Vertical style lines (like princess seams), pinstripes, and zipper closures elongate the figure. Fabrics that float over the body (rather than cling) are more flattering.
